Description
Selective Pallet Racking is the most common type of warehouse racking; it has the lowest pallet storage capacity; but is also the lowest cost per square metre of racking.
Advantages
- Access large range of Stock Keeping Units (SKU’s)
- First In First Out (FIFO) inventory management.
- Multiple access (more than one truck in same aisle)
- No special truck requirements
- Lower Forklift or Pallet Handling costs; as standard forklifts are cheaper than specialised equipment.
- Floor level is not critical (front loaded)
- Prevents damage to goods due to compression
- Unique locking system protects against rack damage & disengagement
Most selective pallet rack systems are 8’ – 12’ wide (suitable to hold 2-3 pallets adjacent to each other), and 42” – 44” deep though more shallow or deeper systems can be configured depending on inventory needs.
